A St. Louis based Fortune 500 organization had a large legacy SharePoint site that was built on an older version of SharePoint. They needed to upgrade to the newest version, but lacked the technical expertise to perform the content migration of over 1,000 SharePoint sites, including unique customizations and workflows.

Initial attempts with migration tooling had proven cumbersome and had not provided the speed or inefficiencies they expected. The organization not only had to complete the migration within a reduced timeline, they couldn’t risk an outage or down time. The customer was also looking to migrate to the cloud, which added another level of complexity to the migration.

Solution Story:

The cost and impact to perform the migration was high. There were issues with managed permissions, storage and reliability, in addition to their ability to access their network and content on a daily basis.

Imaginet expert SharePoint Consulting Team was engaged to perform the entire SharePoint content migration for the organization. This included best practices for using the Metalogix’s migration tool for batch migrations of content.

Their sites that contained custom web parts and workflows were migrated manually. Imaginet’s SharePoint development team made updates to the custom solutions and workflows as identified by the business (based on priority and business impact.)

The entire SharePoint upgrade and content migration was completed ahead of schedule and under budget.
